Congratulations to Leslie de Sage of Victoria, Canada who correctly answered last week’s Mindbender question. “When you double the angle on the bow, you take a magnetic bearing on a fixed landmark, then sail your course by the landmark and take note of how far you sailed when the next bearing is double the first one. That distance is also your distance off the landmark. So, you are calculating “distance off” the landmark.”
