Third Try, a 50-foot trimaran was structurally damaged and had lost its rudder 825 miles northeast of Oahu, HI last week. The three sailors on board were attempting a non-stop circumnavigation when they ran into trouble. Family and friends had reached out to the Coast Guard when they hadn’t heard from the vessel and the Coast Guard issued a SAFETYNET broadcast and AMVER alert to merchant vessels in the area.
