(ABC – Aus) – Earlier this week a singlehander was rescued after being blown off his 32-foot boat in heavy seas. The man was wearing a life jacket with a Personal Locator Beacon which alerted the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. The sailor was in the Arafura Sea which is between the north coast of Australia and the south coast of New Guinea. Using aircraft the authorities were able to locate the man and direct a rescue vessel to him, eight hours after being thrown overboard. Read More
