(New York Times) – 2020 saw a record number of new boat sales as boating was seen as a pandemic-safe sport. Along with this good news the U.S. Coast Guard saw a 25% increase in boating fatalities over the previous year. 77% of the fatal cases show that the boat operator had received no training. Towing operators are having to help people who lack marine experience as well as being unable to explain where they are on the water.
