Thanks to all who replied to our question about carrying storm anchors on our boats. 71% of those who answered do carry a storm anchor. Of those, 37% said that the weight of the storm anchor is less importance than the design or type. Regarding anchor weight, 24% carry a storm anchor that is the same as their primary, 19% said a storm anchor should be 50% heavier than their primary, 11% said it should be 25% heavier and 9% said 100% heavier. Regarding the types of storm anchors readers carry, 48% favor fluke types (Danforth, Fortress, etc.), 37% favor traditional hooking types (plow, Bruce, etc.), 20% favor modern hooking types (Mantus, Manson, Rocna, etc.) and 8% favor modern hybrid designs (Spade, etc.).
