Thanks to all who replied to last week’s survey on sea sickness. Of those who answered, 68% have experienced sea sickness themselves or by their crew. Of those who have experienced seasickness, 49% use some form of remedy, medication or behaior strategy. The most popular of these in order are: 1. Stugeron, which is not available in the U.S but can be bought by mail from Canada or other foreign countries, 2. Scopolomine trans-derm patch, 3. Bonine, Meclazine or Dramamine, 4. Sea Band or pressure wrist band, 5. Ginger in various forms, ie cookies, ginger tea, ginger ale, pickled, etc., 6. Coca Cola., 7. Steering the boat and staring at the horizon, 8. Pre-passage prep of low fat foods, no alcohol and lots of sleep, 9 Singing songs, 10. Sleeping it off.
