Thanks to all who completed our survey last week on man-overboard drills. Of the many readers who answered, 83% have run man-overboard drills aboard their boats; of those 91% performed the drill by retrieving a fender or floating cushion ,while 9% practiced with a swimmer in the water. The preferred maneuvers to rescue a person overboard in order are: 1.Quick Stop, 2. drop sails and motor back, 3. figure of eight, and, 4. reach off and reach back.
