Sailing in the dark can be intimidating at first so Goss suggests starting with a detailed passage plan and take a few minutes to allow your senses to open up. Keep night watches short and encourage movement during the watch. It can take 20 minutes to gain night vision and you may want to put a cover on the electronics to prevent screen blindness. Read more.
