Before reading on, please take a moment to fill out this week’s survey so we can share your thoughts and experiences with the Cruising Compass family.
Thanks to all readers who took the time to answer last week’s Survey on carrying a vacuum bagger on your boats. We had a good response and 38% of those who replied do carry a vacuum bagger. Of those who do not, 16% say they are considering carrying one aboard in the future. Of those who do, this is how they use their vacuum bagger: 84% to preserve food; 66% to keep items dry, like matches; and, 31% for storing clothing not used when cruising or when heading home for a while.
Here are some comments from readers:
“Motor parts and infrequently used tools and electronics.”
“Spare parts and rarely used specialty tools.”
“We had one for a few years when just starting out. 20% or more leaked after a few months and we just found it not really necessary.”
