Cape Cod Canal Reopens After Closure Due to North Atlantic Right Whales in the Waterway

(capecodtimes.com) – In early March the Cape Cod Canal was closed to traffic for nearly 21 hours after two whales were spotted in the canal. With only about 340 North Atlantic right whales in existance, the whales are VIP visitors to the area so traffic is held when whales are observed near the 17-mile canal. The two whales discovered in the canal are believed to be youngsters. Read more.
