HIgh Seas Treaty

United Nations delegates have reached an historic agreement on protecting marine biodiversity in international waters. This agreement comes after twenty years of talks, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres stating, “This action is a victory for multilateralism”. The treaty focuses on countering the destructive trends facing ocean health and will put more money into marine conservation. Guterres went on to state, “the treaty is crucial for addressing the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution”. Read more.
