Before reading on, please take a moment to fill out this week’s survey so we can share your thoughts and experiences with the Cruising Compass family.
Do you have lithium batteries in the house bank of your boat?
Thanks to all readers who took the time to answer last week’s survey on hurricane season strategies for boats sailing to the Caribbean. Of those who answered, 53% said they would leave their boats in a safe haven in the Caribbean for hurricane season while 47% said they would sail it home or into safer waters. Asked to designate where you would choose to leave a boat in the Caribbean during hurricane season 61% said Trinidad, 52% said Grenada, 32% said Curacao, 24% said Panama and 20% said the Rio Dulce, Guatemala. Also, several readers volunteered that they would leave their boats in Jolly Harbour, Antigua. (The percentages for destinations add up to more than 100% because readers could check more than one box.)
