New Saffier SL 46 Elegant Dutch Cruiser

By George Day · On June 12, 2024

Saffier has been building handsome, spritely daysailers for 20 years that have earned a large and passionate following. Their largest design to date is a 37-foot daysailer with a small cabin.

But, at BOOT Dusseldorf last winter, the company launched its stunning new flagship, the Saffier SL 46.  A thoroughly modern design, the 46 has a slightly reversed bow with a long fixed bowsprit that doubles as an anchor roller.

The boat’s sheer line is flat and streamlined while the cabin top lies low and sleek above it.

The 46 comes in two versions, the Med and the North. The Med has a wide open cockpit all the way aft and single step down to the fold-down swim platform. It was conceived for the warm weather cruising you find in the Mediterranean.

The North, as its name implies, will appeal to sailors in cooler climes and windier weather. The open aft area has been replaced with an aft deck that provides plenty of protection from winds and waves. Plus, the builder has created a dinghy garage under the aft deck so you don’t have to carry the tender on deck when sailing offshore.

Down below, the 46 has three sleeping cabins, two heads and a pleasant saloon that is made bright by the large hull windows and overhead hatches. The styling is Scandinavian modern.

Saffier Yachts have always been high-end boats with an elegance that you do not find in production yachts. The new 46 carries this ethos a giant step forward and establishes the builder as a competitor in the elite ranks of luxury Scandinavian cruisers.
