Before reading on, please take a moment to fill out this week’s survey so we can share your knowledge and experiences with the Cruising Compass family. Thanks.
Many thanks to everyone who took the time to fill out last week’s survey on carrying jerry jugs on deck. 71% said they do carry extra fuel in jugs on deck when heading off on a longer passage. 65% said they lash the jugs to a fender board against the side stanchions and lifelines, while 21% secure them in the cockpit and 14% lash them to the stern rail. Of those who do not carry extra fuel on deck, 53% said they don’t need the extra fuel, 28% said they are afraid of fuel spills and 19% said they think jugs on deck look lubberly.
