Concerns for the Gulf Stream

(Space.com) – Scientists are concerned that one of the most crucial ocean current systems could be on the verge of total collapse. Climate change has brought about higher temperatures and these temperatures are melting ice sheets which warms the water and makes it less salty. This in turn affects currents such as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) which includes the Gulf Stream with results including sea-level rises and more powerful storms in the Atlantic.
