4,600 Year-old Pharoh’s Ship to Go on Display

(Maritime Executive) – Egypt has relocated the world’s oldest intact ship from the Giza Pyramids to a dedicated building within the Grand Egyptian Museum, just outside Cairo. The 4,600 year-old vessel is beleived to have been built for King Khufu who was the first pharoh to build a pyramid at Giza. The relocation took six months to prepare for the 10-hour journey. The boat is 143 feet long with a beam of 19 feet and completed its journey at less than one mile per hour. Read More
