Gold Coast Australia Wins Final Leg of Clipper Round the World Race

Gold Coast Australia has won Race 15, from Den Helder to Southampton securing the teams 15 podium out of 15 races.

The Australian entry crossed the finish line at 04:07 GMT. It was a nail biting finish for third place in the overall race which went toSingapore who were second to cross the finish line 04:11:46 GMT, with just seven seconds separating them and third place De Lage Landen who crossed the finish line at 04:11:53 GMT.

Later this afternoon the Australian team will be crowned the winners of the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yachts in front of thousands of people.

The fleet of ten racing yachts are expected to perform a parade of sail this afternoon before arriving back in Ocean Village Marina, after an epic 40,000 mile voyage and 51 weeks at sea.
