The Moorings Announces Charters in Puerto Rico’s Spanish Virgin Islands

By Administrator · On September 22, 2016

The Moorings, is proud to announce its newest charter destination in Puerto Rico, available to book now for vacations beginning in January of 2017. The cruising grounds of Puerto Rico and the surrounding Spanish Virgin Islands will offer vacationers a pristine, Caribbean charter experience with convenient access, including direct flights from many cities and no passport required for U.S. visitors.

Charter options will include all-inclusive Crewed Sail and Power yacht charters, complete with captain and chef, as well as bareboat  Power yacht charters aboard the Moorings 514 Power Catamaran. The ever-popular 514PC is a stable, spacious and innovative vacation platform, complete with four deluxe staterooms, en suite baths, modern saloon and fully appointed galley, and expansive elevated fly bridge for 360 views of the stunning island surroundings.

The primary cruising grounds of Puerto Rico are the Spanish Virgin Islands, consisting of the islands of Culebra and Vieques along with their many surrounding islets and cays. The compact and easily navigated SVI – relatively undiscovered in comparison to their Caribbean island neighbors – are a natural paradise of unspoiled islands, deserted white sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters with healthy, colorful reefs. Vieques, the largest island of the SVI, features stunning beaches and the charming seaside village of Esperanza, complete with picturesque Caribbean boardwalk. Nearby Culebra boasts some of the Caribbean’s best fishing, diving and snorkeling. Here, the laid back anchorage at Ensenada Honda offers casual open-air bars and restaurants. Puerto Rico’s vibrant Latin culture entwined with a relaxed Caribbean rhythm, make for a yacht charter steeped with cultural diversity and history. Additionally, pre- and post-charter sights for vacationers are numerous, including historic Old San Juan, El Yunque rainforest, and Rio Camuy Cave Park.

Charters will start from The Moorings new location at Puerto Del Ray Marina in Fajardo – a 45-minute taxi ride from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU). The largest marina in the Caribbean, Puerto Del Ray offers upscale amenities including a dockside bar and restaurant, gourmet store, marine store, free wi-fi, and golf cart services. One-way Sail and Power charters from Tortola, British Virgin Islands to Puerto Rico will also be available.

“I have no doubt that Puerto Rico will become a favorite destination for our charter guests,” says Josie Tucci, General Manager of The Moorings. “easy access, year-round warm weather and unspoiled islands make an unbeatable combination, and the Puerto Del Ray Marina is second to none.”
